Book Description

This book focuses on writing strategies required for these and academic reports. It is intended for research students particularly those at the post-graduate level who are at the writing stage of their study. The book is structured into chapters according to the generic structure of a thesis and examples are taken from six PhD theses representing the areas of humanities, social sciences, and science and tehchnology. Excerpts are extracted from each chapter of the sample theses in its attempt to provide authentic examples. Emphasis is given to the use of textual strategies in writing the chapters based on the communicative purposes of each chapter.
