Product Description

Follow the life of a young Nyonya growing up in the 70s in Penang, Malaysia.

You will love the antics of this young girl and her mother because she wants to be fresh and hip while her mother is traditional and old fashioned.

The Modern Nyonya has to learn how to be a proper Peranakan girl from her mother. There is so much to learn about being a Peranakan, the traditions and culture, while being influenced by modernisation. Penang, the old Pearl of The Orient, was just turning into an industrial hub in the 1970s with new businesses from all over the world.

Author Bio

Pepper Lim only found out he was a true blue Peranakan at the age of 38! Since then, he has immersed himself in the fascinating and rich Baba Nyonya culture. He recently set a Malaysia record for cycling to China. Next year, he will attempt to break a Guinness world record. He is the father of Paprika and Saffron. This is his fifth book.
