Professor DING CHOO MING has made major contributions to Malay studies and research. He is proficient in the essential languages in Malay studies, including Jawi and Dutch. Professor Ding worked for 40 years in Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) as a librarian, a lecturer, and a researcher in Malay language, culture, and literature. He has published various topics extensively in Malay newspapers and magazines throughout his career. Professor DIng established the important Southeast Asia collection in Tun Seri Lanang Library, UKM while immersing himself in Malay studies. After his retirement from UKM, Professor Ding is still pursuing his passion, which leads to the publication of this book, which he successfully completed in 6 years without any financial aid.
